Where to Find Entertainment Temp Work in Los Angeles While Production Ramps Up
It's no secret that "Hollywood" work in Los Angeles is in a slump.
Whether you're a Writer/Director/Post Producer, like myself, or a Location Manager, also like me, work has been hard to come by.
Even my friends with so-called “secure” office jobs at streamers or networks are feeling it.
Some haven’t seen a promotion or raise in years. Others are juggling two or three survival gigs while trying to crank out scripts for their reps… reps who are still hanging on at agencies. But, with no open rooms to pitch to, unless, of course, you’re a senior-level writer who happens to be besties with the showrunner (insert all the eye-rolls), the reality is that samples are just going into a round file. And let’s not even talk about the indie feature world (which I’m currently in): it takes forever for a deal to go through… and even longer for the check to clear.
So what is a creative that has bills to pay and needs food to survive in a city that seems to charge you at least $100 every time you leave your home?
You could lean into the whole “starving artist” aesthetic (not recommended), or downplay your experience just to survive on a vertical-content, college-level set; or worse, work at one of those in-house, communist-factory-style apps where creativity withers away and your soul slowly dies (absolutely do not recommend).
Or, if you’re like me and have experience in both physical production and office workflows, you can go with the smarter route: connect with one (or several) of the many temp and staffing agencies that actually support creatives across studios, networks, production offices, and Hollywood-adjacent companies.
Option three, folks. Highly recommend option three.
And because sharing is caring (and yes, I’m racking up those Karma brownie points), here’s my latest and greatest list of Hollywood Temp & Staffing Agencies to help you stay afloat while the industry finds its footing:
11th Hour Staffing – Specialized in film, TV, and post-production freelance talent.
24 Seven Talent – Connects talent in fashion, beauty, media, and creative production.
Act One Entertainment Staffing – A go-to for studio, network, and industry-specific temp work.

Scion Staffing – Known for nonprofit, creative, and media job placements.
Syndicatebleu – Great for entertainment-adjacent roles in creative and marketing fields.
The Comar Agency – Entertainment staffing agency with a focus on studio, production, and corporate placements.
The Grapevine Agency – Boutique staffing agency for entertainment execs and talent support roles.
The Help Company – Great for personal assistant, creative support, and boutique staffing needs.
The Mom Project – Supports women (especially moms) returning to creative and office roles.
The Pocketbook Agency – Focuses on entertainment, influencer, and executive staffing.
The Workshop LA – Places fashion, marketing, and entertainment professionals in temp and perm roles.
The good news of securing a "job" through these agencies? Many of these temp and contract gigs run at least three months and can stretch up to two years. The better news? Some are temp-to-hire. But the best news? Whether short or long-term, they help you stay in the industry, grow your network, and (most importantly) keep the bills paid, a roof over your head, and food on the table.
Your's in Hollywood Success,
Ana Lydia
